An Explanation8th May - Just back from a trip to New Zealand - discover that in my absence the old Discount Code for Jessops has been discontinued. Please use the new one "UKCAMERA5"My daughter has been working hard on the new database of camera shops and I hope this will shortly replace the old one. Thank you all for your patience. Still not caught up with my emails as there are over a hundred in my "in box" that I have not replied to. I can only apologise and just hope you understand why I have ignored you. I'll leave the explanation below on for a little while longer, so that people who have not read it will understand why this web site has been neglected. Many of you may have wondered why I stopped updating this site over 18 months ago. Many of you have written in with helpful corrections to the many inaccuracies on here and been ignored. Many of you have asked questions that have not been answered. The simple truth is that I couldn't spare the time and lacked the inclination. My wife was struck down with Cancer in June 2007 and spent the last eighteen months in and out of hospitals for operations and chemotherapy. All without avail, for she died on the 13th of October. Ovarian Cancer strikes without warning and if it has advanced whilst undetected, there is little that can be done to arrest its progress. They call it, deservedly, the silent killer. If you have found UKcamera of any value to you in the past, can you please make a donation to a Cancer charity of your own choice, in Joan's memory. Thank you. Paul The FutureThe immediate task is to revise the two most popular listings - used cameras & the main shop web site page. The regional & alphabetical listings will not be revised until I can put in database generation - then you will be able to ask any question you like of it (I hope shops will also let me know what they specialise in)Next, I plan to revise the importers & manufacturers pages and then add repairers & perhaps photographic holidays. My daughter, Anna, has "volunteered" to help with the updating, so I hope you will see some progress. I am also planning the provision of a used camera sales area for private individuals. As I own "usedcamera.co.uk" and get over 1000 unique visitors each day, I feel I will be able to offer a reasonable marketplace to my customers. The aquisition of "TheSLR.com" is a clue to further developments. Last, but not least, thank you all for continuing to support this site through your purchases from the shops listed here. | |||
